Capital Area Community Action Agency will host the 2010 PIG FEST, a barbecue competition which will include a country fair and folk festival, on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at the North Florida Fairground in Tallahassee, Florida.  Sponsors include the Florida Lottery, the Leon County Tourist Development Council, and our local Tallahassee Democrat newspaper. The event will have media coverage over a four (4) state region.Laugh

We invite fresh produce, crafts, original canned or preserved jellies, jams, pickles, pepper and barbecue sauce vendors, gift basket and other vendors to reserve space to sell their goods for a vendor fee of just $50 for the day. The general entry fee for BBQ competitors is $75, which includes the fee for one of the six (6) categories of competition. The entry fee for each additional category is $35, except sauce and hot wings with fees of $15.  PIG FEST competitors will have priority for barbecue concessions. Other food concessions are welcomed.

The grand prize for the competition will be $1200, with a grand prize trophy. There will be up to $5000 in total cash prizes. Trophies or ribbons will be awarded, with cash prizes, in all competition categories.  Wink

In addition to the Barbecue Competition Village, vendors and a wide variety of food concessions, entertainment (folk music, jazz, cloggers, and square dancing, etc.) will be scheduled throughout the day. The Fairground will open to the public at 10:00 a.m. and close at 6:30 p.m.

You may, also, access event information, vendor registration, and entry forms for the competition by going to our website at http://www.cacaainc.org. If you have questions, please feel free to contact me(Nise) or Diane Haggerty at 850/ 222-2043.Cool
