how seasoned is your wood

hi- i'm getting some different wood for my smoker-apple-cherry adn oak-the guy i'm getting it from cuts and trims trees for a living–he said i would want "green" unseasoned wood–i've always used seasoned-6 months to l year–what do you use?

If your wood is green it will give you too much smoke. Its a great  idea to season it first.
