I'm doing some pulled pork and am not sure how big of a butt I'll need.  There will be a few sides, and drinks.  I'm expecting around 25 people, how big should I go?

Hey jpatts,

For 25 people I would have at least 10 to 12 lbs of pork, but that is after cooking.. If you can find 8-10lb butts, I would cook 2 of them..

I do some small catering jobs and I always figure 1/2 pound a person cooked. Shrinkage on pork butts can be as much as 50% so I just use the number of people to figure the precooked weight. If it is 25 people then I cook 25 pounds of raw meat.

Best of luck on the cook…
