Hi Chris

Seems to me there are a couple of grilll paints out there that go higher, can't think of them right off the top of my head. I had a big problem with my Lang 84, I would sand the rust down, and paint. Within a couple of cooks, it was almiost right back where it was. What I finally realized, but as I assume you are aware (since your a painter), that I actually had 2 problems.

This is what I did with my Lang 84..

I sanded down the rust areas to get it smooth as before, but this time I took some Phospho(sp?) (I think I just got it at Home Depot), and painted it over the rust areas, this was amazing because it took the rust out completely. Then just took the cans of Grill/BBQ spray paint (nothing special, it was what Home Depot had), and painted over the top of that.  I went from having to paint my firebox every 2 to 3 cooks to once or twice a year… I hope this helps
